All dressed up for nothing- Wolverine fame Hugh Jackman trolled mercilessly for supporting Nov
It wasn’t only Serbia but most of the tennis world that dropped their heads as Novak Djokovic lost the final at the Wimbledon Championships to Carlos Alcaraz in 5 sets. The disappointment was inevitable as Djokovic boasted a remarkable record at the All-England Club when it came to finals.
He had only lost one final prior to yesterday and that was to Andy Murray in 2013. Also, the Serbian came in as a four-time defending champion and was the hot favorite to win the title for the fifth time in a row.
The 36-year-old also had a lot of support with big names sitting in the Serb’s box. Australian actor Hugh Jackman was present in the Serb’s box and was confident like most that Djokovic was going to beat Alcaraz quite easily. However, it was not to be as Carlos Alcaraz came up with great quality in his shot-making and pipped the 36-year-old in 4 hours and 42 minutes.
Jackman must have seen Djokovic win a lot in his hometown in Melbourne but this time around missed out on seeing the Serb at his best in London. Djokovic himself didn’t expect a loss as he was playing really well throughout the tournament and won the first set quite easily in the finals too. However, Alcaraz bounced back big time and counter-punched the Serb off the court. The tour will now move to the American courts. Jackman may have to travel the distance to see his favorite win.
Twitter mocks Hugh Jackman for being present in Djokovic’s box
Funnily enough, it was the Australian actor who was mocked by the fans for sitting in Djokovic’s box. They felt like there was no point in getting dressed and making an effort to come and watch a match where his favorite was quite comfortably pushed off the court. The reactions are hilarious have a look at them.
Djokovic and Jackman both won’t pay much attention to all of this. Djokovic will now look to regroup and prepare for the US Open and target that number 1 ranking. He might play either Cincinnati or Canada for some warm-up. It’ll be interesting to see whether the same pair meets again in the US Open Final as well. If it happens, the stakes will be high and the excitement double.
