Princess Love was born Pilipina Love Norwood in Oakland California on August 14, 1984. Her mother is Filipino, Lena Love while her father, Hugh Love is an African-American.

On an episode of Love and Hip Hop Hollywood her father abandoned her and her siblings when she was still very young. Reports also claim that her parents split up when she was only 5 years old. After her parents divorced, she became very close to her grandmother, Barbara Love.

She attended Texas Southern University and the International Academy of Design and Technology before focusing on her fashion design career.
