Im 1000% down with that- Francis Ngannou backs Jake Paul in his UFC fighter pay crusade
Francis Ngannou believes Jake Paul is right in what he is doing and he supports his actions.
The UFC heavyweight champion is currently on some bad terms with the UFC and it doesn’t seem to be clearing it out anytime soon. Ngannou recently defended his heavyweight belt against Cyril Gane at UFC 270. After the fight, UFC president Dana White didn’t put the belt around the champ which highlighted the internal conflict.
It all started when Ngannou revealed to the media that UFC has been treating him unfairly. According to the French-Cameroonian in comparison to other champions, he wasn’t getting the desired importance from the promotion. On top of that, the fighter was unhappy with the fight purse he was receiving and didn’t want to fight for that amount anymore.
His fight with Gane was the last fight of Ngannou’s UFC contract and after that, he decided not to sign a new one. Currently, the fighter is recovering from the MCL and ACL injury and will be out of the game for some time.
Francis Ngannou talks about Jake Paul and his feud with Dana White
While in the process of recovering, Ngannou recently posted a podcast on his YouTube channel. In the podcast, he was answering some of the questions that fans were eager to know.
During the podcast, ‘The Predator’ was asked about his opinions on the ongoing internet dispute between White and Paul. While responding to this the fighter revealed that he has a different way of doing things than Paul.
But at the same, he supports the Youtuber turned boxer for being vocal about the problems faced by professional fighters. Ngannou explained that he is with Paul for speaking out on issues like increasing fighters’ pay and healthcare facilities. “I’m 100 percent with him for what he says. When he says, when he claims for fighter healthcare I’m 100 percent down with that. He claims for the fighter pay increase, I’m 1000 percent down for that. The fighters are not protected, fighters are all out there on their own,” said Francis Ngannou.
Paul has always been an advocate of fighters’ rights since he became frequent in the boxing game. So, it’s very natural for Ngannou to show his support for someone who has a similar viewpoint and a massive following.
